Volunteering DETAILS & Swimmer DECLARATIONS
April 26th
Happy Friday Marlins!!
I have two very important updates for you regarding your volunteer obligations and and declaring swimmers for meets. New information is included, so be sure to read all the way through....even if you are a veteran swim family ;-)
VOLUNTEER OBLIGATIONS
- This season each family will need to earn 12 points
- Jobs are worth either 1 or 2 pts each
- 1 point jobs:
- Computers (both shifts)
- Lead Timer (both shifts)
- Ready Bench (morning shift)
- Scribe (both shifts)
- Timer (both shifts)
- 2 point jobs:
- Concessions (all three shifts)
- Equipment (both shifts)
- Ready Bench (afternoon shift)
- 1 point jobs:
- Job sign-ups will OPEN each week on Sundays at 8pm and close Thursday at 8pm for that Saturdays Meet. The first two meets are listed below, as examples. This is different then in past years, you will not be able to sign-up for jobs at all of the meets in one night.
- Time Trials Jobs (May 4th)
- OPEN Sunday April 28th @ 8pm
- CLOSE Thursday May 2nd @ 8pm
- Away @ Eagle Springs Jobs (May 11th)
- OPEN Sunday May 5th @ 8pm
- CLOSE Thursday May 9th @ 8pm
- Equipment set-up meets at the pool at 5:30am BUT is done by 8am or earlier!
- Concessions has three shifts - see sign-ups for start times
- As fast as possible. It is possible to work 4 jobs in one day. For example: Equipment set-up (2pts), timer 1st shift (1pts), scribe 2nd shift (1pts), equipment take-down (2pts) - this would earn 6 points in one day. If two of you are doing it you could get all 12 points in one day.
- Slow and Steady. Spread it out and vary your jobs.
- Yellow Tent. Come see ME at the yellow tent, CHECK-IN by 7:45 for all jobs and all shifts. Any jobs that are left un-checked the morning of the meet are up for immediate grabs by anyone willing and able.
- If you already have your 12 points, and answer a call for unclaimed jobs you will be entered into a raffle for a free swimmer next year! Additionally, you may also choose to donate your extra point to a family in need of it.
- During weekly practice: sit at the pool entrance gate, answer questions as needed. Ensure that only swimmers and coaches enter the pool area. Shift is for the practice time each day in the week listed for 1 pt.
- Psssst...these sign-ups are open now for the entire season.
SWIMMER DECLARATIONS
- Each week you must tell us if your swimmer will be swimming at the next meet
- Swimmer declarations are open for all meets now
- Swimmer declarations will close each week on Tuesday at NOON
- The first two meets are listed below, as examples.
- Time Trials Jobs (May 4th)
- OPEN now
- CLOSE Tuesday April 30th @ NOON
- Away @ Eagle Springs Jobs (May 11th)
- OPEN now
- CLOSE Tuesday May 7th @ NOON
- The exception is Time Trials, everyone will swim no matter what. But it's a great opportunity to practice declarations, so go declare your swimmers.
Finally, if you have not gotten the Swimtopia app yet, download it now! It's VERY useful. Here are just a few of the useful things it can help you do:
- Sign-up for jobs
- Declare your swimmer
- See what events your swimmer is in
- See your swimmers race results
- and much more!
Thanks for hanging with me through all of that! If you have any questions, please reach out or refer to this slideshow that has the answers to many frequently asked questions.
See you all at the pool very soon!
