Residency

The Marlins Swim Team is the summer league swim team for residents of the following Kingwood neighborhoods: Mills Branch, Woodstream, and Woodspring Forest.

Age Requirements

Swimmers must be between the ages of 3 - 18.

Swimming Ability

Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 meters) without assistance. 

Coaches will teach new swimmers the 4 competitive swimming strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly), but children must be water safe in order to be on the team. 

All new swimmers will need to participate in a safety swim check held in mid-April. The coaches will be in the water to evaluate each new swimmer and ensure they can safely swim across the pool unassisted.

Attendance Requirements

Practice is held 5 days a week, Monday - Friday. There is not a specific practice attendance requirement, but swimming is a sport that requires a lot of practice, so we encourage all swimmers to attend practice as much as possible.

Swim meets are held on Saturdays throughout May and June. In order to attend the divisionals meet or be eligible for awards and recognition at the end of the season, swimmers must compete in at least two dual meets each season. Attending more than two meets is strongly encouraged.

Volunteer Requirement

Participation with the Marlins' Swim Team requires parents to volunteer and complete a specified number of shifts during swim meets. See the  volunteer requirements page for more information.

Fees

• Registration Fee: Ranges per swimmer depending on age and how many swimmers per family
• Volunteer Deposit: $500 (only charged if the swimmer’s family does not meet the required volunteer commitment or elects to pay this fee to opt out of volunteering)

Refund Policy

Swimmers who decide to leave the team, swimmers who become injured, or swimmers not ready for the swim team will receive their registration refund, less $50 per swimmer, on or before May 1. Parents must contact the treasurer for a refund.
