COACHES' CORNER

What a great time trial meet! It was so great to see the kids compete!

For future meets, Swimmers are eligible to participate in up to three individual events and two relays. We’d also like to share how relay placements are determined. Relays are an exciting and important part of our meets, and our goal is to support both team success and individual growth.

What is a relay?

A relay consists of 4 swimmers who each swim a leg of the relay in order to score points for our team. For a meet we can have up to 3 relays per age group each for both boys and girls (An “A" relay, “B” relay and a “C” relay.) For age groups that have more than 12 swimmers, not all swimmers will be placed in a relay.

Relay Selection Factors:

  • Performance & Times: relay teams are selected based on swimmers’ best times and consistency to field the strongest possible team, while also creating chances for improvement.
  • Swimmer Development: Progress, effort, and practice performance are considered, so placements may change week to week.
  • Legal Strokes: Swimmers must consistently demonstrate legal strokes to avoid disqualification. This helps ensure fairness and protects team results.
  • Team Balance: We aim to create a well-balanced mix of skills in each relay. This means strong swimmers may not always be placed if a different combination better supports overall team success.
  • Communication: If your child is not placed in a relay, please feel free to reach out. We are happy to discuss performance and areas for growth.

We truly appreciate your support and the hard work of all our swimmers. We are committed to helping each athlete grow and succeed.

Finally, please remember to declare your swimmer in Swimtopia by Tuesday at noon. This is extremely helpful for meet and relay planning.

Swimmingly,

Coach Olivia & Coach Brynlee
