7/8 boys tent

Hi Julie,

If you have already received one or two replies from your email this morning, please forgive this one and discard it.  I get a very weak signal in my building and my phone email acts up.

I have you working in the 7/8 boys tent this season.  A couple of rules for the tent parents.  First, as with all other season-long positions, you must work all six swim meets.  Second, you need to get there early so you will be ready for your swimmers.  Not 5:30 am but you can't arrive at 7:30 am either.  Tent parents start arriving at 6:00-6:15 am.  When you get your paperwork, you call out each name and write their heat numbers on their arm.  Any kids that do not show up, circle their name and the head tent parent will be by to get it from you (or she'll get you to bring it to her tent).  When your heat is called, you round up the boys in that heat and bring them to the ready bench.

One very important thing to tell you.  You are NOT the guardian of the children in your tent.  That's their parent's job.  You write numbers on their arms and bring them to the ready bench.  That's it.  You don't even need to get them from the ready bench back to the tent, also the parent's job.  Guardian is not your burden or responsibility.  We usually do not have an issue but if a parent were to ever suggest that your job is also to watch the kids, get a board member immediately.  We'll fix that misunderstanding.  Tent parent is a fun and very easy gig, and it's now yours until you don't want it.  I just wanted to make you aware of the good and the bad.  Thanks for helping out this season.

Ray
